You may be wondering what Key Skills are and why they are so important, not just for your current training but for your personal development. Key Skills are the general skills that are relevant to what you do in college, the work place and life in general. Key Skills enable you to improve your own learning and performance.
What are the areas that Key Skills cover?
Application of number: being confident about using, interpreting and manipulating numbers quickly and accurately
Communications: taking in information by reading and listening; providing information by speaking and writing
Information Technology: using computers to find, select, enter and present text, data and images
Key skills are not just another test - Key Skills help you develop your transferable skills (the ones that will help you get a job). Having good Key Skills will allow you to:
