Foundation Construction Award (FCA)
- 12-week course through the CITB.
- This course covers the basic elements of a chosen trade.
- It will involve the construction of a portfolio and practical tasks.
- Includes core knowledge test at the end of the course.
- Build brick wall
- Build straight brick wall
- Run brickwall into line
- Cut bricks
- Use access equipment

- Use access equipment
- Use portable power tools
- Build basic carpentry joints

- Use access equipment
- Use portable power tools

- Cut components to required dimension
- Fixing sheet materials
- Prepare background surfaces

- Snagging/Making good
- Mix and understand the use of different fillers/adhesives
- Good appreciation of range of tools required for career in dry lining
- Erect Metal stud partition systems
- Taping and Jointing
- Cladding to metal and timber structures
- Erect and dismantle access equipment
- Understanding of health and safety at work practices and procedures
